The Battle of the Badges Indy hosts an annual charity hockey game that currently benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We were founded in 2021 by the current Commissioner James Taylor. James had participated in several of the 911 Slugfest boxing events and found them to be great entertainment for those involved in public safety. He decided to apply the same concept to a sport that he loves. Hockey, in general, has a rich history but is not as popular within Indiana as its counterparts. That is something we are looking to change
The two teams that compete are made up of public safety officials involved in law enforcement, emergency medical services, and fire/life safety. Currently, there are over 15 public safety agencies represented. We are always looking to add players to the roster and volunteers to help during the game. We have teamed up with members of the Indy Fuel administration in preparation for the games and enjoy the working relationship. We are looking forward to expanding the game, and the love of hockey within central Indiana.
