Parking Supervisor (Part-time)

A Parking Supervisor serves as the direct supervisor of parking attendants and manages traffic flow in and out of various parking areas. They are a point of contact for any questions, concerns, or complaints from both customers and employees. A Parking Supervisor must have a valid driver’s license.

Operations Janitorial Crew (Part-time)

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that Fairgrounds facilities are clean, sanitary and safe. Employees will work Monday through Friday for five to six hours per day.

Education Presenter (Part-time)

The purpose of this position is to present fieldtrip programs for a fixed period during the spring and fall semesters. The position must assist the department to ensure the educational mission of the Indiana State Fair Commission is realized through exceptional onsite programming through fieldtrip delivery.

Gate Cashier (Part-time)

The purpose of this position is to sell tickets at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center’s gates both year-round and during the annual Indiana State Fair. Gates Cashiers predominantly work outdoors throughout the year.

Parking Attendant (Part-time)

The Parking Attendant serves as a point of contact for all guests as they park their vehicles. Parking Attendants are expected to provide superior customer service while assisting customers to their destinations. Parking Attendants report to the Parking Supervisor.

Departments and available positions:

Accounting: The position of Accounting Office Intern is responsible for providing assistance to the Accounting Department in completing daily tasks such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash handling, filing, data entry and creating reports for ISFC staff. This position will also receive exposure to certain internal audit components of the ISFC.

Competitive Exhibits & Events: The Competitive Exhibits & Events Intern should be looking towards a career in event production and marketing. This internship will develop skills in organization, creative thinking, planning, implementation and building partnerships with industry leaders.

Contracts: The Contracts Intern performs a variety of administrative procedures in the preparation, full execution and implementation of contracts with outside service providers for goods and services.

Education: The education internship is an interdisciplinary internship with a focus on the research and implementation of educational programming which will take place before and during the 2025 Indiana State Fair.

Entertainment & Events: The Entertainment and Events Intern should be looking towards a career in event production and marketing. This internship will develop skills in organization, creative thinking, planning, implementation and building partnerships with industry leaders.

Emergency Operations Center: The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Interns will be the primary staff for the Indiana State Fairgrounds Operations Center (ISFOC). Interns will assist with updating policies and plans for the State Fair as well as assist with employee training. This position will work closely with professionals across a variety of agencies including the Indiana State Police, Indianapolis Fire Department, Indianapolis EMS, Red Cross, and private security. Interns will gain practical knowledge and experience in operational management and resource coordination in support of incident response. This position is appropriate for undergraduate or graduate students who desire a career in emergency management with an interest in disaster response operations, event/venue safety and security, and/or homeland security.

Graphic Design: The Graphic Design Intern will have several tasks including, but not limited to, assisting with most design components of the Indiana State Fair marketing campaign ahead of the event in August. This position will assist the Graphic Designer with producing high-quality, primarily, print materials.

Human Resources: The Human Resources Intern is responsible for coordinating and performing all activities and tasks of the Indiana State Fair Employment Office. The Employment Office hires and processes approximately 900 seasonal employees who will work the annual Indiana State Fair.

Livestock and Competitions Entry: The position of Entry Department Intern is part of a team that works to coordinate all livestock shows, competitions and 4-H exhibits during the 2025 Indiana State Fair. This intern will have a chance to work on several projects including: exhibitor communications, show entry and event planning for shows and contests, i.e., the Grand Drive. This will be a great opportunity for individuals interested in agriculture, show management and the Indiana State Fair.

Livestock: The position of the Livestock Events Intern reports to the Livestock Manager and is part of the team that works to coordinate all livestock shows and competitions during the 2025 Indiana State Fair. This intern will have a chance to work on several projects including fair exhibitor, contractor communications, social media communications, State Fair preparations and coordinating livestock-specific programs. This will be a great opportunity for individuals interested in agriculture, livestock exhibition, event coordination and the Indiana State Fair.

Marketing: In this role, you will manage several projects including, but not limited to, assisting with the planning and implementation of the 2025 Indiana State Fair Marketing Plan, management of excellent guest experience, assistance with program distribution, and more!

Promotions & Events: The Promotions and Events Intern should be looking towards a career in event production and marketing. This internship will develop skills in organization, creative thinking, planning, implementation and building partnerships.

Public Relations: As the Communications/PR intern, you will have duties focused on public relations and community engagement as it relates to the Indiana State Fairgrounds and the Indiana State Fair. You will coordinate assigned projects, adding your own ideas and creativity, to enhance PR and marketing efforts for this exciting family event. This position will provide real world work experience working with state-wide media outlets and community partners both independently and as part of a team.

Safety & Security: Safety & Security Interns support the entire operation of the Safety & Security Department during the Indiana State Fair by responding to medical incidents, managing guest screening, and conducting hazard assessments as well as other duties required by the Emergency Operations Center. Interns will learn to conduct basic field investigations, inspect issues related to the fire code, OSHA, and general safety, and manage the guest and vehicle screening checkpoints and staff. This is a well-rounded position that provides hands-on experience at Indiana’s largest event and an opportunity to work with law enforcement officers as well as representatives from the Indianapolis Fire Department, Indianapolis EMS, Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the American Red Cross. The position is appropriate for undergraduate or graduate students who desire a career in law enforcement, security, fire service, EMS, venue safety/security, or emergency management.

Sign Shop: Sign Shop interns work with a team to create projects for State Fairgrounds events and the Indiana State Fair while working with the Marketing team to provide an excellent customer experience to our guests and community.

Sponsorship: The position of Sponsorship Intern will assist with the planning and implementation of all Sponsorships during the Fair, as well as help generate new revenue by contacting companies to promote discounted Indiana State Fair ticket packages. This internship will allow the intern to gain exceptional experience in client communication, event planning, on-site event management and implementation.


Vendor Services: The purpose of this position is to assist in the day-to-day functions of the Vendor Services Department with a focus on working in the Indiana State Fair Concessions Department, which is one of the key revenue-generating departments on the Fairgrounds. Daily responsibilities will include assisting the more than 200 food and non-food vendors that are contracted at the annual Indiana State Fair around the grounds and in The Mercantile Building by creating and implementing contracts and mailings, collecting money deposits, fulfilling credential orders and providing excellent customer service.
