DDH Farms

Farming and Fun: DDH Farms and North America Midway Entertainment; The Legend Continues……

In the rollercoaster world of farming, Danny Huston stands as a bold trailblazer, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. From the fertile fields of DDH Farms in the heartland of Parker City, Indiana emerges a story of ambition, risk and innovation, where one man's dream of tending crops intertwines with the whimsical allure of carnival extravaganzas.

Danny’s journey began amidst the rustic charm of a pig farm, where his love for agriculture took root. Despite hailing from a non-farming family, his passion persisted, leading him to purchase a sprawling 375-acre farm in Randolph County during the tumultuous economic landscape of the early 1980s.

While initially drawn to the rhythm of pig farming, Huston's interests soon diversified, leading him to embrace grain cultivation and the captivating world of carnivals. Teaming up with kindred spirits, Tony Diaz, Scooter Korek, Fred Rosen and a host of dedicated midway professionals in early 2004s, Huston co-founded North America Midway Entertainment (NAME), now renowned as the largest midway company on the continent.

2024 represents a major milestone for NAME as they proudly celebrate their 20th anniversary. The big story is that North American Midway Entertainment, through its carnival operations, raises over $31 million annually for agricultural associations and fair initiatives across North America.

NAME's kaleidoscopic of five travelling carnivals, with their dizzying array of over 200 rides and attractions, have become a staple of summer festivities, enchanting millions of visitors each year at 125 events across the nation, that now attract over 15 million visitors annually. From the heartland of Indiana to the bustling streets of metropolitan cities, NAME's vibrant presentations bring joy and laughter to communities far and wide.

Danny's carnivals, with their vibrant energy and pulsating rhythm, grace the grounds of 11 of the top 50 fairs in Canada and the United States, including the iconic Indiana State Fair. Beyond mere entertainment, these carnivals serve as vital conduits for funding agricultural showcases, drawing crowds and revenue that sustain the agricultural narrative now and for generations to come.

Beyond the thrill of the rides, NAME's outdoor entertainment empire provides employment opportunities for thousands of individuals, offering valuable lessons in customer service and safety. From the crisp days of spring to the golden hues of autumn, a legion of thousands of seasonal workers and full-time employees traverse the nation, enriching communities and forging lasting memories.

The parallels between farming and entertainment are not lost on Huston, who recognizes the shared ethos of adaptability and perseverance required in both realms. As a steward of the land and a purveyor of joy, Danny’s commitment extends beyond the confines of his fields, serving on the board of Cardinal Ethanol and championing renewable energy solutions in agriculture.

For Danny, the rewards of his endeavors are many, whether in the silent symphony of swaying cornstalks or the jubilant noise of carnival festivities. As he navigates the cyclical rhythms of planting and harvest, Huston remains a steadfast advocate for the Indiana State Fair, a supporter of agricultural excellence and a testament to the hard work of 4-Hers across the state.

In the tapestry of American life, where cornfields meet carnival lights, Danny Huston stands as a beacon of ingenuity and resilience. As he looks ahead to each new season, whether sowing the seeds of tomorrow's harvest or orchestrating the thrills of a carnival night, Danny’s story reminds us of the enduring magic found in the simple joys of farming and fun.
